Host Nottingham is a charity that supports asylum seekers and refugees in Nottingham. Proceeds of the Silent Book Auction will be used for two of our projects (details below)
"Side by Side"
During the Covid-19 pandemic we have pioneered a new project called "Side by Side" which partners volunteers with asylum seekers and refugees to help them attend appointments and meet up for befriending. The aim of this scheme is to build confidence, reduce isolation and increase integration as those seeking refuge rebuild their lives in our city. We are currently fundraising for our Side by Side Project to provide money to cover transport costs for our volunteers and participants that we can continue our work.
"Clothes Bank"
Our clothes bank has seen a huge increase in referrals over the last year. We usually take requests and deliver clothing parcels of pre-loved clothing items, however, there are some items such as underwear which we wish to buy new. Any money donated to us through the Silent Auction will also be used to buy underwear so that we can include underwear in our clothing parcels to asylum seekers and refugees for those that need them.
